Teacher Tuesday Spotlight – Melissa McEvoy
Tell us about yourself:
I am a director of a non-profit charity cycling team, Team Velox Rota. We raise money in the fight against Multiple Sclerosis. I love to push my classes with tough love, work hard, play hard! You’ll find fast paced music with a good base to keep the energy high in the room.
What makes your class unique?
I cycle outdoors, so I try to incorporate a lot of saddle work into the class (don’t worry you get to stand up too!) It’s all about variety, so I try to incorporate a little bit of everything into my classes. Hopefully your mind won’t catch up with how hard you’re working until it’s over.
What is something people may not know about you?
Even though I can teach in front of a large class – I’m actually pretty shy when you first meet me, but that goes away quickly!
What songs are on your current playlist?
Work Work by Britney Spears
Starstruck – 3OH!3
Remember the Name – Fort Minor
Go! – Santigold
What is your favorite quote?
You want me to do something… tell me I can’t do it. -Maya Angelou
What song sums you up?
I’d say it’s a tie between: A Little Party Never Killed Nobody” from the Gatsby soundtrack and “ Play Hard” – Ne-Yo and Akon
You can find Melissa in the studio Wednesdays at 6am and Thursdays at 6:30am.
